Fashion fix: new life for a moth-eaten wool sweater

This Filippo’s moth-eaten wool sweater has needed to be repaired for a while and I decided to do it last week finally. The sweater was full of holes everywhere, both small and very big. Given that I don’t like patches very much, I came up with this solution: I used some Xs to cover the holes and to renew the sweater at the same time.

Everyone can make this easy fashion fix, even if you’re a beginner or you don’t have a sewing machine.

It’s very easy…First of all, I mended the holes by hand on the wrong side of the sweater.

I used a black cotton ribbon, 0.6 cm high, that I already had in my stash and I cut some small strips. Then I folded and pressed the strip’s ends.

I basted the ribbon on the sweater (I put it over the hole in order to hide it) and I sewed it with my sewing machine using a zigzag stitch (if you don’t have a sewing machine, you can sew it by hand).

Then I basted the second small ribbon to created the X and I sewed it with a zigzag stitch.

I sewed a X on every hole and I added some other Xs to decorate the sweater.

I managed to revitalize a beautiful wool sweater thanks to this easy mending!
